Infant formula: giving infants the best possible start in life

Breast milk is the best start a baby can have in life. However, for different reasons, not all mothers are able to breastfeed their babies or choose to do so – and therefore need a safe, effective, high-quality alternative that precisely meets the needs of babies during the first critical months of life.

  • Premature babies cannot be fed directly from the breast or bottle until they have reached 32-34 weeks, and must be fed tiny amounts through a tube placed through the nose into the stomach. They also have special nutritional needs – they grow faster than full-term babies, and have immature digestive systems. Nestlé Nutrition was the first to offer an effective, research-based formula for premature babies.

  • Infants with a family history may experience atopic diseases, and later in life develop other allergies such as hay fever and asthma. Nestlé Nutrition has pioneered hypoallergenic infant formula, and led the way in probiotics – creating foods that “train” a newborn’s digestive and immune system to resist early childhood problems.

Nestlé Nutrition adheres to the World Health Organisation's International Code of Marketing Breast-milk Substitutes.

Baby food: building strong foundations for young children

Growing. Changing. Developing. As babies grow into young children, their nutritional needs change fast. The Nestlé Developmental Nutrition Plan (NDNP) helps parents provide optimum nutrition that enables their baby to build a healthy foundation for later life. It identifies the unique nutritional needs in each stage of development and suggests the right nutrition at the right moment of growth.

Nestlé Nutrition has also created healthier taste options - for example, baby foods with less salt and less sugar. Our philosophy is that children who acquire good eating habits from the start are building the nutritional foundation that will last throughout their life.
And we think our range of baby foods is a great place to start.

Performance nutrition: realising the body's full potential
