Thousands of people play sports or work out regularly. Afterwards, it’s great to snack on something to fill up the depleted energy stores. But when they think of personal nutrition, most of them feel they have to trade off taste for nutrition when they choose an energy snack. How can something packed with nutrients taste good?

The new USDA Dietary Guidelines state that many people consume too many calories but fall short of meeting their requirements for essential nutrients. They suggest more physical exercise, together with more nutrient-dense foods that boost essential nutrients in the diet and look after the calories at the same time.

The real message is that a nutritional supplement does not need to be a pill. It can be a food that tastes good at the same time as doing you good. The secret is to make nutrition, taste, calories and pleasure play together on the same team.
